Salwa Kayed Hadib-Qannam (1958-) is a Palestinian nurse and politician . She was born in Jerusalem in 1958. She obtained a diploma in nursing from St. George’s Eye Institute in London . She returned to Jerusalem and worked as a nurse at St. John's Hospital from 1978, then served as chief nurse during the years 1979-1984. She remained working as a nurse until 2004. [1]

She obtained a law degree from the University of Beirut during the period 1982-1984. Then she obtained a bachelor’s degree from Al-Quds University , Abu Dis, specializing in social and family development. In 2005, she obtained a master's degree in Israeli studies from Al-Quds University. [1]
Working life [ edit ]
She was a member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement , headed the Association of Women's Committees for Social Work in Jerusalem, [2] and a member of the Women's Affairs staff. She headed the Women's Department and the Israeli Affairs Department of the Fatah movement in Jerusalem, and served as Secretary-General in the Palestinian Ministry of Women's Affairs in February 2004 for five years. [3] [4] On October 31, 2011, President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree appointing Mrs. Salwa Hadib as Deputy Governor of Jerusalem. She was one of the most prominent feminist leaders working in Jerusalem. She also served as president of national, community, and feminist institutions, and worked as an expert for the League of Arab States and for the United Nations Fund for Women in New York . [5]
