The doctor was born in the city of Nablus. He taught fatwas in the city and is from a family belonging to the tribe of the Prophet, peace be upon him, Imam Hussein bin Ali, may God be pleased with them both. Several jurists appeared in the family, including the Supervisory Syndicate and the first mayor, Sheikh Muhammad Tuffaha in 1868. Bell at Al-Irfan School and at Al-Najah School, from which he graduated in 1931.
He joined the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut and graduated from it in 1931. He worked as a resident physician for a year. One at the university hospital. He was appointed as a doctor in Akka, which left the best impression on him, as he would frequent the office of Sheikh Asaad Al-Shukairi, interact with its youth, and be moved by its worries, wounds, and hopes. He worked as a doctor for the mobile eye clinic unit in the town of Al-Majd, north of Gaza. Then he was seconded to work as a doctor in the Border Force in Zarqa for a year. He opened a private clinic in Nablus from 1942-1984 until he stopped practicing the profession.
The number of doctors in Nablus who work in private clinics was ten doctors, including: Wassef Abdul Hadi, Sidqi Malhas, Jurji Dadas, Ali Fahha, Ahmed Al-Taher, Taj al-Din Arafat, and Khalil Mikhail. He was one of the founders of the Medical Syndicate in Jordan, whose main center was in Jerusalem and its second center in Amman in 1954. He was a member of the Syndicate’s Council for two terms. Two consecutive times. He contributed to the founding of the Red Crescent Society and was elected president of the society in 1965. He also contributed to the founding of the Al-Bir Charitable Society, and became secretary until his resignation in 1992.
Dr. Tuffaha was a member of the Mayor’s Council of Al-Najah College, who decided to establish the Teachers’ House, which opened in 1965, and who made the decision to develop the college. It became a university in 1976. He and five other members resigned from the university’s Board of Trustees in protest against the imposition of political guardianship over the university. He became a member of the Nablus Municipal Council, which decided to establish the Nablus Municipal Library in 1960 to be the first public library on both sides of the Jordan. Members of the Municipal Council contributed to the nucleus of the library by donating from their libraries.
