Salwa Kayed Hudaib-Qannam (1958-) is a Palestinian nurse and politician, born in Jerusalem in 1958, who received her diploma in nursing from St. George's Eye Institute in London. She returned to Jerusalem and worked as a nurse at St. John's Hospital from 1978, then served as head nurse from 1979 to 1984. She remained a nurse until 2004. 

Study

She obtained her law degree from the University of Beirut during the period 1982-1984. She then obtained her bachelor's degree from Al-Quds Abu Dis University, specializing in social and family development. In 2005, she received her master's degree in Israeli studies from Al-Quds University. 

Working life

She was a member of Fatah's Revolutionary Council, chaired the Association of Women's Committees for Social Work in Jerusalem, and a member of the Women's Affairs Team. She headed Fatah's Women's Department and Department of Israeli Affairs in Jerusalem, and served as Secretary General of the Palestinian Ministry of Women's Affairs in February 2004 for five years.  On 31 October 2011, President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree appointing Salwa Hudaib as Deputy Governor of Jerusalem. She was one of the most prominent women leaders working in Jerusalem, as well as the head of national, community and feminist institutions, and worked as an expert at the League of Arab States and at the United Nations Fund for Women in New York.

Awards

Salwa Hudaib has won many awards, including:

1994 Peace Prize from the Israeli Peace Organization.
Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain Employee of the Year Award in 1998.
