Issa Kassisieh (b. 1964 in Jerusalem) is a Palestinian politician and diplomat. He held the position of Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Holy See, and holds the position of Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Knights of Malta.
Education and educational attainment
Issa Jamil Kassisieh was born in 1964 in Jerusalem to a Palestinian Greek Orthodox family. He holds a BA in English Literature from Bethlehem University, a Master’s degree in International Relations from Birzeit University, and studied public administration at the Kennedy School of Government and Diplomacy at the University of Birmingham.
Political life
Kassisieh served in several positions in the Palestine Liberation Organization and later the Palestinian National Authority, where he was the director of international relations at Orient House, and was part of the Palestinian negotiating delegation on churches and issues related to Jerusalem.
In 2004, he was appointed Director General of the General Personnel Office to work in the Office of Ecclesiastical Affairs. According to a presidential decree in 2007, he was part of the Supreme Presidential Committee for Christian Affairs. He continued as a member of the committee after the 2008 amendment and the 2016 amendment.
In 2013 he was appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Holy See, and in 2017 he was appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Knights of Malta.
