“Muhammad Aqel” Eid Biltaji
(February 10, 1941 - February 28, 2021) was a Jordanian politician born in Gaza
who held the position of Mayor of the City of Amman since he was appointed to
this position on September 8, 2013 by a decision of the Council of Ministers,
until his resignation in March 2017. Beltagy, a member of the Jordanian Senate,
held several positions, most notably the Advisor to the Jordanian King at the
Royal Hashemite Court, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners / Aqaba Special
Economic Zone Authority in Aqaba, southern Jordan, and Minister of Tourism and
Antiquities.
