Rula Nabil Maayah - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Birzeit University in 1994, and then a higher diploma in public administration from the Catholic University of Milan in Italy in 2006.
She joined the ranks of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, participating in the establishment of the Fatah Youth Movement, starting from Birzeit University, to be a member of the West Bank Committee and then a member of the External Relations Committee of the General Union of Palestine Students, representing the Union in many international institutions, and then she was elected as an observer member. In the Executive Bureau of the International Socialist Youth for two years.
She was appointed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports since its establishment in 1995 and then moved to work as General Director in the Ministry of Justice, in addition to her work as a teacher at the Community Partnership Institute of Bethlehem University.
In 2005, a presidential decree was issued appointing her as a member of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and in 2007 a decision was issued appointing her as a member of the West Bank Square Organizational Committee of the Fatah movement, and in 2012 she was appointed as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
Member of the Palestinian National Council.
In 2014, she was chosen as a member of the Executive Council of the Arab Tourism Organization as a representative of the Levant region, and a member of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Tourism Ministers, and in 2018 she assumed the presidency of the 20th session of the Arab Tourism Council.
In 2015, she was awarded the Order of the Italian Republic, with the rank of Knight, by Italian President Sergio Mattarella. The high award came in recognition of her efforts in building bilateral relations between Italy and Palestine, especially in the field of tourism.
