Asem Ghaleb Hafez Salem (born June 4 , 1958 in Nablus ) is a Palestinian economist who served as Minister of Transport and Communications in the government of Mohammad Shtayyeh from April 2019 to March 2024.  He worked as a lecturer at An-Najah National University , headed the Friends of the University Association , and previously served as the head of the Union of Workers in Palestinian Universities .  He was a member of the Nablus Municipal Council but resigned on August 11, 2015,  and headed the "Nablus is More Beautiful" list to participate in the 2016 Palestinian local elections but later withdrew on August 25, 2016.
