Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa is a Jordanian parliamentarian, born in Salt in 1919. He has the longest term in the presidency of the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Jordan from (1953-1994). He was the second observer of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan. He was arrested twice and fled one of them to Syria. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Institute of Law in Jerusalem, occupied Jerusalem. He was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Guidance Office and deputy general guide of the Muslim Brotherhood in the world. He also ran as a deputy in the Jordanian Parliament between the years 1956-1961. He died in 2006 at the age of 87.

 

His upbringing and education

Sheikh Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Khalifa al-Nusour was born in the city of Salt in 1919 AD, and he belongs to the al-Nusour clan of Saltiya. He received his first education in (al-Kuttab) from Sheikh Afif Zaid, where he read the Qur’an at his hands, then he studied at the Salt School at the beginning of its opening. After completing the tenth grade, he was sent on a mission to the Khadoori Agricultural College in Tulkarem, from which he obtained a diploma in agriculture, then entered the Teachers Institute and obtained its certificate. Then he obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Institute of Law in Jerusalem.

 

He began his working life as a teacher at Hawara Elementary School, then at Al-Ramtha School, then left education to join the Institute of Law in Jerusalem. Where he obtained a bachelor's degree in law. After his graduation, he worked as a lawyer for two years, then the Judicial Council in Amman chose him to be a conciliation judge in Ma’an, then he was transferred to serve as a public prosecutor in Salt, then he was transferred with the same position to Irbid, then Karak, then Madaba to hold the position of a judge there. Where he resigned in 1953 AD at the request of the Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, which elected him as the general observer of this group.
