Jafar Abed Abdel Fattah Hassan is the Chief of Staff at the Office of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein (since November 2014)
 
Jafar Hassan served as Minister of Planning and International Cooperation in Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from December 2009-April 2013, serving in the Governments of Samir Rifai, Marouf Bakhit, Aoun Khasawneh, Fayez Tarawneh and Abdallah Nsour. As Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar was Jordan’s Governor to the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He represented Jordan at the Arab development funds and all donor organizations.
 
Jafar started his career in Government when he joined the Jordanian Foreign Service in 1991, and held senior positions during his 18-year service in the Diplomatic Corps and Royal Court  including as Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission on Washington DC, 2001-2006 and at Jordan’s Mission to the UN in Geneva 1995-1999. Jafar was also seconded to the Royal Court in 1993-1995 and 1999-2001. Jafar retired from the Foreign Service when he was appointed Director of the International Affairs Department at the Royal Hashemite Court (May 2006-December 2009),
 
Jafar is an alumnus of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland (PhD, DES), Harvard Univesrity / Kennedy School of Government (MPA), Boston University (MA), American University in Paris (BA) and Harvard Business School (Senior Executive Program).
