Shafiq al-Hout (January 13, 1932 - August 2, 2009), Palestinian politician and writer. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its representative in Lebanon, and a member of the Palestinian National Council. He was married to Bayan Ajaj Nuwaihid.

He finished his secondary education from Amriya School in Jaffa in 1948, when he and his family were forced to immigrate to Lebanon in April of the same year. He joined the American University of Beirut in 1948, and graduated in 1953.

He worked as a teacher at Al-Makassed Islamic School until 1956, when he moved to work as a teacher in Kuwait until 1958, after which he returned to Beirut, leaving the teaching profession and joining the press as editor of the Lebanese magazine Al-Hawadith. He remained in this position until 1964.

He contributed to the founding of the Palestine Liberation Front in 1963, as he was one of the founders of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and participated in its founding conference held in Jerusalem on May 28, 1964.

At the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, he was appointed representative and director of the organization's office in Lebanon, where he left the journalistic work and devote himself to political work.

He was chosen as a member of the Executive Committee of the Liberation Organization between 1966 and 1968, and returned again to the Executive Committee in 1991 until he resigned from it in 1993 in the wake of the Oslo Accords. Shafiq Al-Hout participated in the Arab Summit Conference in Khartoum, which was held on August 29 after the 1967 war with the late Ahmed Al-Shugairi, head of the Liberation Organization, and Saeed Al-Sabaa, the representative of the organization in Sudan, in what was known as the Conference of the Three Nos: No Peace, No Negotiation, No Recognition

He witnessed all phases of the Palestinian presence in Lebanon from 1948 until his death in 2009. He witnessed the Lebanese civil war with all its details and events, as well as the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the Palestinian exodus from it in 1982.

He has represented the Palestine Liberation Organization in the United Nations General Assembly meetings since 1974.

He died in 2009 and was buried in the Martyrs Cemetery (Beirut).
