Aoun Saadi Al-Shawa (1934-2001) is the first mayor of Gaza during the era of the Palestinian National Authority , and his wife Rawiya Al-Shawa (1944-2017) is a deputy in the Palestinian Legislative Council .

• Aoun Al-Shawa was born in Gaza City in 1934, then studied economics and business administration, and graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1960, then worked in the Persian Gulf for 12 years with an oil company, and in 1974 he returned to Gaza.
• Aoun participated as a consultant in the Madrid Conference , and in February 1998 he was elected President of the Palestinian Federation of Local Authorities , and in June 1998 he was elected Vice President of the United Cities Organization.
• Aoun married Rawiya al-Shawa and had four children with her.
• Aoun worked in private and private institutions , working in the export of agricultural products, especially strawberries , as he now exports 60% of strawberries to Eastern and Western Europe, where the export of these products at that time was the preserve of Jews.
• He received the mayor of Gaza on July 26, 1994, commissioned by Palestinian President Yasser Arafat , to be the first mayor of Gaza during the era of the Palestinian National Authority, and continued in his position until his death in 2001.

Aoun Al-Shawa passed away on November 30, 2001 in Gaza City, after a struggle with illness for several months.
