Muhammad Al-Qeeq, a Palestinian journalist and correspondent for Al-Majd satellite channel, went on a hunger strike in the Israeli occupation prisons for 94 consecutive days, according to the “Japanese method.” He is the first prisoner to be force-fed to break his strike. He was arrested by the Israeli occupation and by the Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank several times. After the torture and ill-treatment that Al-Qeeq was subjected to, he decided to go on an open hunger strike.

 

His student and trade union activities

He chaired the Birzeit University Student Council in the 2006-2007 session with a distinguished union harvest, and was active in the Islamic Bloc - the student wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) -, in addition to being a writer of opinion articles on a number of local and Arab websites that express the spirit of Palestinian resistance and the continuation of Jerusalem uprising.

 

In the prison of the Palestinian Authority (Fatah movement)

He was arrested several times by the Palestinian Authority's security forces affiliated with the Fatah movement in the West Bank. Among them was when they arrested him during their suppression of the sit-in in front of the Great Mosque of Al-Bireh in Ramallah in 2013, when the Preventive Security Service of the Palestinian Authority and the Fatah movement in the West Bank summoned the journalist Al-Qeeq several times, one of which was after members of the “Special Police” assaulted him after he participated in the “Nusra” march. He was kidnapped for months by the Preventive Service, Intelligence and Presidential Security in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
