After her
participation in a march in Jerusalem, the German journalist, Na'amah Al-Hassan,
of Palestinian origin, faces racism in Germany, as her program that she is
presenting in Germany has been suspended.
This decision
comes after the participation of journalist Nehme in a march in Jerusalem and
her expression of her opinion and criticism of the "Israeli"
government through its practices towards Palestine.
Journalist
Na'amah says, "I do not exercise my natural right to express my opinion in
Germany, because she faces great criticism and suppression of her press
freedom."
Al-Hassan, 28,
was originally supposed to present a scientific program on the German “WDR”channel, before the station decided to stop this step due to accusations of
anti-Semitism.
It is
currently being studied whether Elhassan could undertake editorial duties
behind the camera.
Al-Hassan is
facing criticism, including for her participation years ago in the Jerusalem
march in Berlin, and Al-Hassan had apologized for participating in this march.
Al-Hassan is
also accused of liking online posts critical of Israel, including the escape of
prisoners from a high-security Israeli prison.
Al-Hassan
continued her criticism in the article, saying that German public opinion is
asking her to deny her Palestinian identity, stressing: “I am Palestinian and
my family’s history is strongly linked to the history of the State of Israel
forever.”
Al-Hassan
accused Bild newspaper, which was the first to inform the public about the
accusations against her, of trying to harm her reputation, but she said at the
same time that Bild newspaper “is naturally allowed to research the past of a
public figure and ask questions.” She added: “But there is a limit.” between
critical journalistic work and a campaign aimed at harming a person.”
