The Ministry of Culture mourned the artist Muhammad Al-Julani, who died today, Friday, after a struggle with illness.
The Ministry confirmed in a statement issued by it that Al-Julani’s departure constitutes a loss to the Palestinian artistic and cultural scene, as he made many contributions to training a generation capable of exploration, and his paintings also reflect this adventurous spirit searching for spaces of reassurance, freedom and professionalism.
Artist Muhammad Al-Julani graduated from Al-Quds University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2009. He taught visual arts at Al-Quds University between 2011 and 2013. He also taught visual arts at the Friends School for Boys between 2016 and 2018, and worked as an independent artist and artistic trainer in various cultural institutions. .
Al-Julani's paintings reflect tranquility, and even frustrated anger. His work is the product of an accumulated phase of exploration, raising issues such as identity, space, and freedom, to name a few.
Al-Julani also obtained an artistic residency at the International City of Arts in Paris in 2018. He participated in several international programs and exhibitions, and in 2016 he received the Ismail Shamout Prize for Fine Arts and the Higher Education Prize in 2007.
