Hany Abu-Assad (Dutch: Hany Abu-Assad), born October 11, 1961, is a Palestinian-Dutch director from Nazareth. He directed Paradise Now, about two Palestinian men preparing to bomb themselves in Israel, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Film. Foreigner in 2006. It was nominated for an Oscar in the same category, and won the Golden Calf Award in the Netherlands as the best Dutch film.
He was born in Nazareth, Palestine in 1961, and immigrated to the Netherlands in 1980. After that he studied aerodynamics in Harlem. He worked as an aeronautical engineer in the Netherlands for several years. He entered the world of cinema and television as a director, and directed the film September in 1990.
