Wael Hamdan Ibrahim al-Dahdouh (born on April 30, 1970 in Gaza) is a Palestinian journalist, who studied in Gaza and was imprisoned for seven years in the prisons of the Israeli occupation. He began his career as a reporter for the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds, and worked for other media outlets before joining Al-Jazeera in 2004.

Birth and upbringing
Wael Hamdan al-Dahdouh was born on April 30, 1970, in the Zaytoun neighborhood, the oldest neighborhood of Gaza City, the largest city in the coastal strip whose area does not exceed 365 km only. He grew up as a child and a boy in the care of an extended and well-off Gazan family, whose origins are from the Arabian Peninsula, who subsist on farming and working in cultivating the land. As for his youth, he spent seven years in the prisons of the Israeli occupation immediately after obtaining his high school diploma in 1988.

Wael Al-Dahdouh received his primary, preparatory and secondary education in several schools in Gaza City. He again obtained a high school diploma in an Israeli prison, then obtained a BA in journalism and media from the Islamic University of Gaza in 1998, after the occupation prevented him from traveling to study abroad.

He received a master's degree in regional studies from Al-Quds University, Abu Dis, in 2007.

Functions and Responsibilities
Al-Dahdouh worked for the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds as a correspondent in Gaza, and wrote for other Palestinian magazines, then worked as a correspondent for the Voice of Palestine from Tehran, as well as for Sahar satellite channel at the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.

He also worked as a correspondent for Al-Arabiya TV in 2003, then moved to work as a reporter and official in the Al-Jazeera office in the Gaza Strip since 2004.

career path
Wael Al-Dahdouh launched his work in the press in 1998, and the number of journalists and press offices in Gaza at that time did not exceed the fingers of two hands. With the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, Arab and foreign media began to become interested in the events of the Intifada, and new press offices were established in the Strip.

His name emerged through his success in covering the repeated Israeli invasions of the Gaza Strip, and following up on Israel's assassinations of prominent Palestinian figures, led by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and military leaders from the Palestinian military arms, including his brother and a large number of his relatives.

Along with his comrades, he covered the repercussions of the internal Palestinian division, and he also had an imprint in the coverage of events on Al Jazeera TV, including the ongoing Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip and its impact on people's lives, sea and land solidarity convoys, and the subsequent demolition and intrusion into the Egyptian border with the Strip, and his famous meeting At the time, his colleague from Cairo, Samir Omar, concluded a joint report.

Al-Dahdouh succeeded in leading the Al-Jazeera team during the coverage of the first Israeli war on the Gaza Strip as the first war media experiences in 2008-2009 and beyond, as well as during the second war in 2012. But the most complex coverage was in the third war in 2014, which lasted 51 days, and the aftermath of Episodes called "Gaza Wins".

He produced episodes of several programs on Al-Jazeera and a film about the resistance tunnels in Gaza, and another about the resistance operations behind the lines of the Israeli occupation army during the 2014 war, which is "Group No. 9".

He worked as a reporter and editor in chief covering the rituals of Hajj and Umrah in 2011. He was the author of the first live report on the first episodes of the new program at the time, “Al Jazeera this evening,” from the town of Beit Hanoun during an Israeli invasion.
