He went to university education at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he was appointed full professor at the institute and university, with the rank of distinguished professor of engineering there.

his personal life
The scientist Ali Nayfeh grew up in a family known for knowledge. He is the brother of each of: the scientist Tayseer Nayfeh, the scientist Mounir Nayfeh, and the scientist Adnan Nayfeh.

Professional biography
Nayfeh has presented 655 international scientific and engineering conferences, and has organized and supervised seventeen international scientific and engineering conferences. He was honored with three Russian, Polish and German honorary doctorates (from the University of Munich). Nayfeh founded two scientific journals, the Journal of Nonlinear Dynamics and the Journal of Vibration and Control. He is also certified by Wiley & Sons of New York to edit a series of science books. He is also a Fellow of several American Scientific and Engineering Societies.

His Arab contributions are also many. He founded the College of Engineering at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah in 1976 and led a team of 35 engineering members in America, including professors and deans at MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, and Virginia Tech. He also founded the Faculty of Engineering at Yarmouk University in Irbid and served as its dean. He established a program in mechanics in Tunisia, and participated in engineering research collaboratives in Turkey, Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia. Under his supervision, 98 PhD and post-doctoral students in engineering, physics and mathematics have graduated. He was honored with many international awards, the most important of which was the Benjamin Franklin Appreciation Award in Mechanical Engineering, which is the highest award in mechanical engineering, noting that this award was awarded to the physicist Albert Einstein.

His writings
Nayfeh published 485 original research papers in distinguished and refereed scientific journals (Archival Journals), i.e. more than one research per month. He is also the author of ten scientific books in engineering, applied mathematics, and physics taught in many universities, including Israeli universities, and some of them have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. He also wrote 37 chapters in joint scientific and engineering books. He has several patents registered in America, Europe, China and Japan. He also worked for two airlines for seven years, researching difficult and complex topics in mechanics, physics and mathematics.
