Information

MIT Technology Review Arabia announced that Palestinian innovator Omar Abu Dayyah's team won the International Innovators Under 35 Award. This announcement came as a culmination of his research efforts, which aim to develop a home test to detect a person infected with the Covid-19 virus using the CRISPR technology.
The award aims to highlight innovation around the world for those under the age of 35, their ability to keep pace with rapid changes, and their positive contribution in dealing with challenges.
The team is currently working with a design firm to create a prototype of the equipment needed for testing.
Omar hopes his team will have the test ready for use by next fall. And if the team succeeds in reaching its goal, testing for infection with the Corona virus will become available to anyone, anywhere, at any time, and genetic modification technology will enter people's lives for the first time.
It is noteworthy that he previously won the Innovators Under 35 Mina Award for 2019 after developing the SHERLOCK platform.
