Maher Natsheh (born January 25, 1955 in Jerusalem) is a Palestinian chemist and university professor. He was appointed Acting President of An-Najah National University in 2013, and in 2019 he was appointed its President.
Education and educational attainment
Maher Abd al-Razzaq Abu Eid al-Natsheh was born in Jerusalem on January 25, 1955. He grew up in the city, then left for Egypt to study chemistry at Cairo University, from which he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1976. He obtained a master’s degree in petrochemicals and hydrocarbon chemistry in 1980, as well as PhD degree in physical chemistry and polymers in 1983 from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the United Kingdom.
practical life
Al-Natsheh worked as a laboratory supervisor at Bethlehem University, then moved with the same job title to An-Najah National University, where he graduated as a teacher, then as an assistant professor, then as an associate professor. He was appointed head of the Department of Chemistry in the period 1992-1994, then dean of the College of Science in the period 1994-1998, then became an academic vice president of the university until he became acting president of the university in 2013, and later in 2019 he became president of the university. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council for Creativity and Excellence. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Al-Safa Bank.
