Alaa Abd al-Majid Musa al-Laqta
(born in Gaza, 1972 AD) is a Palestinian doctor, artist, and daily cartoonist.
He is famous for his patriotic drawings that reflect the Arab and Palestinian
reality. He paints in several different Palestinian and Arab newspapers. He
holds the Romanian Board (Fellowship) in Plastic Surgery. Married and father of
three daughters.
He won second place in the Arab
Cartoon Award
And the Palestinian cartoonist, Alaa
Al-Laqta, came second in the Arab Cartoon Award for the year 2013 in its second
edition, whose results were announced by Dar Al-Sharq on the sidelines of the
opening of the 24th Doha International Book Fair. 158 Arab comics artists
competed for the award with 408 artworks.
He shared the snapshot with a
painting entitled (The Syrian Scene), dedicating his success to the soul of his
parents, may God have mercy on them. While the first place was won by the
artist Maher Rashwan from Egypt, and the third place was won by the artist
Muhammad Sabana from Palestine.
His opinion of caricature art
The art of caricature is defined as
“the art of bitter laughter through which the artist reduces the concerns of
the citizen, the issues of society, and the contradictions of reality in simple
lines or brief words.” He believes that the cartoon played an important role
during the war on Gaza 2014, represented in conveying the true picture of the
occupier's crimes and brutality, and exposing the complicity of the Palestinian
and Arab brothers in this aggression through the tightening of the siege and
attempts to break the will.
