Dr. Mu'tasim Hamdan serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Jerusalem. He is a professor specializing in health policies and management.
Dr. Hamdan began his academic journey by joining the university in 1998. Prior to that, he worked for two years at the Palestinian Ministry of Health as a specialist in developing administrative systems in healthcare institutions. He was among the founding members of the College of Public Health at the University of Jerusalem.
He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in health management from Hacettepe University in Turkey, awarded in 1996. In 2003, Dr. Hamdan earned his Ph.D. in health policies from the University of Louvain in Belgium.
Dr. Hamdan has a deep expertise in healthcare system development and extensive experience in the Palestinian healthcare system. He also has a long history of involvement in international health projects and managing postgraduate programs and research in the field of public health.
He has served as a health policy consultant for the Palestinian Ministry of Health and advised various national and international organizations. Dr. Hamdan worked as an expert in the office of the World Health Organization for Palestine in Jerusalem for four years from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, he is a member of editorial boards for six peer-reviewed international scientific journals and is involved in numerous national advisory committees in the field of health. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals.
