Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Dweik is a professor of polymer chemistry and industrial chemistry technology, and the Vice President of Jerusalem University. He earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Aston University in the United Kingdom in 1983. He holds various administrative positions within the university, including serving as the Dean of the College of Science and Technology, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, and Head of the Department of Food Manufacturing. He has participated in over a hundred international meetings and is a member of the World Science Council based in Paris.
He served as a member of the International Science Council, representing the Arab and North African countries for six years from 2014 to 2020. He also worked as a member of the National Steering Committee for projects of the World Bank's Quality Improvement Fund, implemented through the Ministry of Higher Education, focusing on education within the Palestinian universities.
Additionally, he was a member of the Steering Committee for the Global Environment Facility under the International UNDP organization through the Small Grants Programme (SGP). He worked as a visiting professor at several international universities, including the University of Bordeaux in France, the University of Akron in Ohio, USA, and the University of Padua in Italy.
Dr. Hassan Al-Dweik actively participated in the administrative bodies of various local institutions, including the Union of Charitable Associations, the Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem (ARIJ), and the Arab Construction Project. He served for many years on the Steering Committee of the Bard College in New York, working on program development.
He successfully secured financial support for numerous university projects from various sources, including DEG and BMBF from Germany, USAID from the United States, the European Commission, Belgian sources, French sources, and UNESCO/Paris.
He is the founder of the first scientific museums in Palestine, particularly the Science Museum and the Mathematics Museum, since 2003.
He represented Palestine in the Steering Committee for the Hisham Hijjawi Award in Applied Sciences for Jordan and Palestine since 2002. He was also a member of the National Committee for Science and Technology affiliated with UNESCO.
He represented the university in various international forums."
