Born in Ijzim, Haifa. He obtained a Diploma from Egypt, worked in teaching in Aden, he came back to Palestine when the World War II had began and worked as a teacher in Haifa. After al-Nakba he moved to Syria and worked in Aleppo's schools; director of the social affairs and labor at the UNRWA in Damascus, member of the Palestinian National Council, vice president of the PLO's political department, represented the Palestine Liberation Organization in several conventions.
