Amjad Rasmi (born in Amman 1974) is
a Jordanian cartoonist who works for the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat
newspaper. He is a journalist and visual artist. He is a member of the
Jordanian Artists Association, and one of the founders and secretary of the
Jordanian Cartoonists Association. Won the 2008 Arab Journalism Award in the
Cartoon category.
Professional biography
Rasmi studied art at the Institute
of Fine Arts in Amman, and then worked for a long time in the Jordanian
newspaper Al-Dustour, before moving to work for the Saudi Research and
Publishing Group, which awarded him the shield of the late artist Mahmoud
Kahil. He also won the 2008 Arab Press Award in the seventh session for his
drawings published in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper published by the group, a win
that made the Dubai Press Club choose him as a member of the jury for the award
in the caricature category at its 2010 session. Rasmi’s drawings published in
international newspapers and magazines, such as: Forbes, Le Monde, The New York
Times and The Washington Post, also won appreciation. Many Arab writers
celebrated it in their articles.
