Mariam Hassan Al-Badawi was born in Al-Buss camp in the city of Tyre, southern Lebanon, in 1995. In high school, she dreamed of studying engineering at a prestigious university, but like any Palestinian refugee here, the higher their dreams, the more they hit the roof of the camp and came back. She continued her studies at the UNRWA Siblin Institute and graduated with a very good GPA, and her passion was really engineering. After her marriage, she moved to Ain El-Hilweh camp, the largest Palestinian refugee camp. Maryam worked immediately after her graduation and gained extensive experience in the field of engineering. She did not forget to work for Palestine. When she resigned from her job because she moved to another region, her manager told her: I have not seen a person who loves his work like you. I learned a lot from you and the most important thing is that you made me love Palestine.

Maryam lived a quiet life, during which she gave birth to two children in 2018 and 2019, until the economic crisis came in Lebanon, or as it is known as the “dollar crisis.” Maryam lost all her savings, “currency difference,” and she returned to stand up again and start over.

With the crisis reaching its climax in 2021, with the power outages and the private generators stopping working, the Palestinian refugees suffered from economic and psychological conditions, as a result of which most aspects of life were paralyzed. Maryam invested this time and participated in the competition for the best scientific research held by the Department of Refugee Affairs, in order for Maryam to prove her worth and be ranked among the best 30 male and female researchers at the national and diaspora levels who wrote about the Palestinian cause.

Maryam's achievements are still going on. She has now finished her second book, entitled: Suspended Human –inside the box, which was published on Amazon.com. Its foreword was written by Dr. Bill Slaughter, a psychiatrist from Harvard University, who expressed great admiration. With the way Maryam tells the stories, with her description of the camp in all its details, every Palestinian refugee will find a part of it in the book in some way. Dr. Bell presented a comparison between Maryam Al-Badawi and Martin Luther King, and if the color differs, the goal is the same, "My people deserve better."

Maryam is still a young woman in her twenties, and life is still long ahead of her, as she is the one who followed the path of her grandmother to her father, "Umm Saad", to whom "Ghassan Kanafani" wrote. Maryam grew up and learned that no matter how harsh the winter is for the deltoid, there must come a day when it will bud.
