Zalfa Al-Saadi was born in 1905 to a well-known family in Old Jerusalem, whose name is “Haret Al-Saadiyya”. She was trained as a young girl by the well-known Jerusalemite painter Nicolas Al-Sayegh. It was not common at that time for women to practice this activity, but she was a talented girl, and she displayed her paintings in the first Arab National Exhibition, which was held at the Islamic Council in Jerusalem in 1932, and her works became popular. The admiration of the exhibition audience, which included specialists from Arab countries such as Egypt, Iraq and Syria.
In 1938, she married Saif al-Din al-Dajjani in Jerusalem. In 1948, Zalfa al-Saadi and her family were forced to leave their home in Jerusalem, as a result of the residential neighborhoods being exposed to attacks by Zionist gangs. Then she immigrated to Damascus and resided there, and began teaching art to children in UNRWA schools. .
Zulfa Al-Saadi was distinguished by painting paintings of well-known figures with literary and historical standing, such as Saladin Al-Ayyubi, Sharif Hussein and his son Faisal I, Jamal Al-Din Al-Afghani, Omar Al-Mukhtar, and the poet Ahmed Shawqi, and she painted most of her paintings on canvas .
The Palestinian painter died in Syria in 1988, at the age of eighty-three. The artist Al-Saadi and her works did not gain the fame they deserved, until the Palestinian artist Mahmoud Taha discovered them late, and some of her paintings were later displayed in the Jordanian National Museum.
