The Jordanian/Palestinian poet Ahmed Al-Khatib is considered one of the most prominent poetic symbols in the Arab poetic scene, which is the generation of the eighties of the last century. Since his first collection of poems published in 1985 by Al-Farabi House in Beirut, “Fingers Involved in Spreading,” Al-Khatib has been able to be unique in his special voice that distinguishes him. About his generation of poets, charting his poetic career that exceeded forty years across the Arab world.
Ahmed Al-Khatib is a poet who suffered the torments of Palestinian immigration, so the camp was “the flower of the meeting place, and the masts with their heads bowed above the corpses.” His soft body wallowed in the dust of his Irbidi camp, from which he learned from his school the titles of human pain. Life.. he saw things and beings, and they were stored in his memory to be a path towards beauty that he broadcasted in the niches of language and its aesthetics. Thus, he began to pave his terrain and thorny paths to give space, space, and manifestations to the soul.. This soul, which was filled with his pain and the pain of memory, was still green like a tree standing in the wind.
Ahmed Al-Khatib was born with beauty and pristine language. His poems are inspired by the spirit of the reality that he depicts for us with visual scenes that differ more in terms of the meaning and structure of the poetry that lies within him. He works to reveal and renew the structure of the poem that he thinks about itself, pouring the water of life into its nerves, asking his legitimate questions that are in harmony with his own dictionary and his own. The aesthetic with more astonishing artistry shocks the reader who receives the poet’s concept of poetry through which he works to open other gates and windows to explore the depths of its contents, problematic issues, and transformations of the poetic text.
The follower of Ahmed Al-Khatib’s poetic experience sees him very carefully practicing the pleasure of the purest poetry imprinted with elements of sadness and pain. We find him the knowing Sufi who is certain of the eloquence of his soul that goes to the meanings of knowledge and the dialectic of life and its contradictions, holding the thin thread that connects and engages with what man suffers on this charged planet and the poetic self as a musician. From the source of the language and Varda, there are questions lingering within the grief-stricken and trapped human being of a painful and crisis-ridden reality. The one contemplating this poetic experience by Ahmed Al-Khatib finds himself faced with more than one scenario and a human cosmic drama in which he sees voices inhabiting him and accumulating in the geography of time and the museum of man.
Through what was previously mentioned and its beginning, the poet Ahmed Al-Khatib puts us in astonishment at the publication of his poetic works that was recently issued by Dar Al-Jinan for Publishing and Distribution in the Jordanian capital, Amman, a publication that came in six huge volumes, and this publication was preceded only by the late Iraqi poet Saadi, who published his poetic works. In seven volumes and perhaps more, and this is an advantage for poets.
This includes the volumes of the Jordanian/Palestinian poet Ahmed Al-Khatib. In the first volume, which is approximately 500 pages in the middle, his poems were written between the years 1978-1999 and came under the title “Psalms of Roses and the Memory of Water” and the poetry collections: Fingers Involved in Spreading, The Sound Barrier. “The female of the wind, the panting of the dead, the mirrors of the blind, he does not speak less. I see that he is not in his dream, and his days of the week are written by the sun of his destination.”

While the second volume, which came in 475 pages of middle pieces, and whose poems were written between the years 2000-2009, came under the title “This is how the owner of the situation passed me by,” and includes the poetry collections: “I raised my imagination to my drunkenness, the conditions of writing, and I am still walking, toward... Another poem, “Fever in the body of the sea, and do not tell death, ‘Take as much extra time as you want.’”
As for the third volume, it contains 503 pages of middle pieces. The poet wrote his poems between the years 2010-2014, and it came under the title “The illiterate will sign behind my poems.” Poetry collections: “Guardian of Meaning, What Does the Wind Say to the Mirror, As You Are Now, I Was Me.”
From the third poetic volume we read this poem:
He called me ten minutes before dawn
Before I left the circle of chaos
The rhythm shuddered and descended into darkness
He wipes away the water of darkness from the eye of the dreamer
And the walls of the house did not rise
In addition, my blood thinned
He felt something brown in the mirror
So I said, “Maybe it’s morning.”

Meanwhile, the fourth volume, whose poems were written between the years 2014-2017, came under the title “Practicing Running at Night,” and included the poetry collections: “These are my ways and my days, in the imagination I imagine, a homing pigeon for the Homsian jinn, and the volume came in 475 pages of middle pieces.
The fifth volume consisted of approximately 500 pages of middle pieces, and his poems were written between the years 2017-2021, and under the title “Private Houses for Translating Circumstances” came the poetry collections: “A Faint Mountain in the Baskets of Villages, The Shirt of Relics, and the Bells of Promised Days.”
While the sixth and final volume, which came in 475 pages of middle pieces, and whose poems were written between the years 2021-2022 and came under the title “The Falcon Sees Wings in the Air,” included the poetry collections: “Quasheen fit for life, alienation of the guardian of meaning, delved into simile and broken mirrors.”
The Iraqi poet and critic Dr. Hadi Al-Nahr wrote on the cover, saying: “One of the achievements of contemporary Jordanian poetry is the poet Ahmed Al-Khatib. In his poetry there is an abundance of leadership, innovation, and seriousness. His poetry is the poetry of living organisms, his music is captivating, and his rhythms are overlapping colors and bright circles, based on extensions of meanings.” Drawn by enormous and bitter life, intellectual, cultural, and linguistic experiences, where this creator always begins with the word overflowing with connotation and suggestion, and ends there, and the active (I) remains, and the in-depth experience: awareness of man and the world produces poetic texts that confirm moving essences existing in contexts. Linguistic: the essence of man, things, and relationships. Al-Khatib’s poetry controls them, not to imprison them by projecting their meanings onto them, nor to take away their dreams, but to penetrate with them the institution of language and the absence of human awareness qualified to search for the connotations and revelations behind words, and to discover the dissipation of human reality and its loss in the midst of successive refractions. And the slaughtered human concerns, and the days of human pain, and even its hours, which have lost - or almost - the memory of today’s human being, so he began to live on the act of rumination and remembrance instead of the act of capturing, assembling, and awareness, and we are faced with the rumination of a lost remembered world preserved by the product of those affiliated with culture and thought.”
It is noteworthy that poetry collections were published in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, and Sudan, and it is noteworthy that the poet Al-Khatib won first place in the poetry section, the Tayeb Salih International Competition for Written Creativity 2021, and he is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association and a member of the General Union of Arab Writers, and has participated in many He participated in local, Arab and international poetry festivals, and a number of his poems were translated into English and Serbian.
