Walid Saif (Tulkarm, 1948) is a Palestinian -Jordanian poet, short story writer, television drama writer, playwright, critic, researcher, and academic .
His upbringing, studies and life
Walid Saif was born in Tulkarm in the West Bank and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Arabic language and literature from the University of Jordan ; He also obtained a doctorate in linguistics from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London in 1975 . After that date, he worked as a lecturer in the Arabic Language Department at the University of Jordan for three years before leaving the department to work full-time as a writer for television drama. He worked in Syrian television drama.
Dr. Walid Saif is married to Dr. Iman Mahmoud Ibrahim and has three children, Khaled, Liana, and Laila.
His work at Al-Quds Open University
Since 1987, he has worked as Director of Educational Production at Al-Quds Open University , whose preparatory programs he helped prepare. The television drama he writes draws from the rich Arab heritage. He also writes plays and articles that address the current tragedy of the Palestinian people. He wrote a work entitled The Long Path , which is a serial television drama that tells the lives of multiple generations of a Palestinian peasant family. Writer of the Omar bin Al-Khattab series.
