Abbas Shublak (January 6, 1944) is a Palestinian academic, historian, and research associate at the Refugee Studies Center (RSC) at the University of Oxford (a position he has held since 1992). He specializes in relations between refugees and host countries and international humanitarian law. Over the past few years, he has been working on preparing a research paper on the topic of statelessness in the Arab region. He founded the Shamal Center for Palestinian refugees and expatriates in Ramallah , and was also its first director. He was a member of the Palestinian delegation to the peace talks on the Refugee Working Group.
Personal life
Abbas Shoblaq was born in Palestine on January 6, 1944. After completing his studies in Jordan , his university education in Egypt , and his work in Lebanon , he moved to Britain in 1975, where he completed his postgraduate studies in international relations. He then continued his career in independent journalism and diplomacy, developing an interest in refugee and stateless communities, and is regularly consulted by intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, immigration agencies, law firms, academic institutions and the media to provide advice and comment on refugee and stateless matters . He currently resides in the United Kingdom .
