Sami Muhanna ( in English : Sami Muhanna ), (September 22, 1971) is a Palestinian poet and writer, born in the village of Peqi’a in the Upper Galilee . Former president of the General Union of Palestinian Arab Writers in the interior , Arabs 48 , in the years 2010-2019.
A lawyer and journalist who was honored by the General Union of Arab Writers. He also won the Palestine Prize from the General Union of Arab Writers in the poetry category for the year 2018.
Political and literary activity
He completed his secondary studies at the Galilee Center Comprehensive School, then went on to study law at the University of East London in Britain - from which he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree. He was active in the Palestinian national movement since his early youth, and was subjected to imprisonment and arrest more than once on political grounds. He began writing poetry and various literary articles since his youth, and published most of his literary production in newspapers, magazines, and local media outlets and abroad.
He founded and headed the Palestinian Writers Union in Israel, from 2010 to 2019. He edited the cultural corners of the Arab 48 news website for 5 years. He worked for the Palestinian Wafa News Agency as editor of Israeli affairs. In addition, he participated in many festivals in the country and the Arab world, and was honored by the Moroccan Writers Union (in Tangier ) and the General Union of Arab Writers (in Abu Dhabi ), for his influential literary and activist role.

More than twenty poems were composed from his words, and Palestinian and Arab artists sang them, including: Tunisian artist Nawal Ghasham , Moroccan artist Salwa Choudary , and Palestinian artists: Violet Salama , Heba Bathish, Elias Atallah, Najm Atallah, Mona Najm.
More than one of his poems were composed by the musician Fawzi Al-Saadi and the maestro Emile Gamal, and the Egyptian musician Salah Al-Sharnoubi composed some of his words for the operetta Shams Al-Orouba, in which 22 singers from all Arab countries participated, and he participated in poetry readings in it, in addition to his book, by the Syrian artist Suzan Najm Al-Din . Some of his poems were translated into languages. Many, including English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Hebrew, were published in more than one anthology and literary magazine in America and Spain.
Issuance
He published six poetry collections and prepared and presented a book of selections of Palestinian resistance poetry in the 1948s, which included 126 poets from all generations. Many of his poems and articles have been translated into English, Italian and Spanish.
He composed many poems, some of which were published in the album “You Are With Me,” and among his lyrics is the operetta “Shams al-Orouba,” in which 21 artists from all Arab countries participate in singing and reading poetry.
