Munif bin “Muhammad Arif” Al-Husseini (1899-1983) is a Palestinian poet . He was born in the city of Jerusalem , then he moved to Nablus and finished primary school there. Then he returned to Jerusalem and finished his secondary education in the Al-Mamouniya School , and completed his education in the Royal Office. He died in Jerusalem in 1983.

His life

He received his higher education at the Khadoori Institute in the city of Tulkarm in 1921, and was appointed director of the primary school in the Royal Office in World War I. Then he entered the Agricultural School in Jerusalem , but it was closed due to the entry of Allenby and the British forces. He participated in holding the First Arab-Palestinian Conference and became As a member of its executive committee, he participated in founding the Arab Club and sought to open the Rawdat al-Maaref Institute , which played a major role in supporting and directing the national movement. Munif worked as a teacher in the Rashidiya School and the Al-Mamouniya School in Jerusalem, then returned to continue his agricultural studies in Ghouta in Syria . After that, he was appointed director of the Khadoori Agricultural Institute in Tulkarm and resigned after a year to devote himself to national work.

In early 1927, he founded the “ Arab League Newspaper ,” and it continued for nine years until the Mandate authorities closed it and arrested him until 1937. Then he moved to Cairo on a national mission, and the Young Muslim Association adopted his work and issued bulletins and publications for distribution throughout the world. He then moved to Lebanon to join Hajj Amin al-Husseini in 1939, and when the French arrest campaign began against them, they left for Iraq and participated in the revolution of Rashid Ali al-Kilani . He then settled in Saudi Arabia in 1942 and became the ambassador of the Palestinian state there. 

He worked with Abd al-Qadir al-Husseini in the mobilization to support the Palestinian cause after he passed away in Saudi Arabia, after which he left for Egypt in 1946. He then moved with the organs of the Arab Higher Committee to Beirut, accompanying Haj Amin al-Husseini .

His works

Munif Al-Husseini wrote many articles in addition to the lengthy statement in defense of Haj Amin , which was printed in a book entitled “A Statement to the Nation Concerning the Sinful Campaigns Being Waged Against His Eminence the Grand Mufti and the Supreme Islamic Sharia Council .” He wrote many poems that he published in Palestinian newspapers before the Nakba, including the poem “A Day in Hattin Overshadows His Sky,” which was published in Al-Quds newspaper , published on September 2, 1932.
