Ziad Barakat (born August 8, 1963 in Deir al-Balah ) is a Palestinian- Jordanian writer , and a former member of the Jordanian Writers Association.
His education
He obtained a BA in Arabic Literature from Yarmouk University in 1987.
His professional life
Barakat worked in the daily newspaper Al-Dustour between 1990 and 1997, then as a journalist and head of the cultural section in the daily newspaper Al- Arab Al-Youm in 1997, then as a journalist and cultural editor in the Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq between 1998 and 2002. He then moved on to work as a program preparer and senior journalist for the Qatari news channel Al Jazeera since 2002.
He was a member of the Jordanian Writers Association and resigned from it in 2011 in protest against the association’s pro-Syrian regime stance.
