Jihad Saleh, whose full name is Jihad Ahmed Saleh Qasim (Abu Iyad; May 15, 1947 – January 29 , 2023 ), is a Palestinian writer, historian, short story writer, critic, and researcher . He won the State of Palestine Award for Social Studies and Humanities for the year 2017 , and is the owner of the largest Palestinian encyclopedia.

His biography

Jihad Ahmed Saleh Qasim was born on May 15, 1947 in the village of Deir Dibwan in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate , and grew up in the Jordanian city of Irbid . In 1968, he joined the ranks of the contemporary Palestinian revolution and the Palestine Liberation Organization , and since 1998 he has held positions in the Palestinian Ministry of Information and the Palestinian Political and National Guidance Authority . He is a member of the Arab Writers Union and the General Secretariat of the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Authors .

His death

Jihad Saleh died on Sunday, January 29 , 2023, in the Jordanian capital, Amman , at the age of about 75. He was mourned by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas , and by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture , the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Authors , the Fatah Movement , and others.
