Born in Nablus in 1933, when the Arab revolt had started the family were deported to Damascus by the British authorities; Darwazeh studied his primary and high school stages in Damascus then he joined the American University of Beirut (AUB), but he was dismissed because of his political activities, then he moved to Cairo to continue his studies; obtained a BA in Sociology from Cairo University in 1956. When the Palestine Research Center established, Darwazeh appointed as an assistant manager for Dr. Anis Sayegh.
