Saleem was born in Gaza in 1943, received a Licentiate in Geography from Ain Shams University, Cairo in 1965; Diploma in 1976. Saleem has worked in teaching from 1965-1979, then as principle of Al Karmel Secondary School from 1977-1979. He currently works as the general director of the National Library of Palestine. 
He has many researches that were published in a foreign magazines.
