Sami Shbeib was born in Jaffa in 1948. He received his Bachelor's degree in History from Damascus University in 1972; MA in History from Saint Joseph University in 1979; PhD in History from Saint Petersburg State University in 1996. 

Samih has worked in the Palestinian journalism in Syria and Lebanon during the period (1972-1982), worked at the Research Center of the Palestine Liberation Organization 1982-1993, a founding member of the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Journalists, Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Culture Studies in Birzeit University.
