Salim Daou (Hebrew: סלים דאו) is a Palestinian actor, director and artist, born in the Palestinian village of Al Ba'na in northern Israel. Selim has appeared in cinema, theater and television programs, and has acted in dozens of plays in many languages. It also offers entertainment and cultural evenings and purposeful theatrical performances.

His upbringing and life
Salim was born on November 1, 1950 in the village of Al-Bana, Acre District, in the Western Galilee, to a family of farmers. However, after Israel confiscated the village's lands in 1963, the farmer's life in the village ended and he moved to work in construction. He loved acting and imitation at an early age when he was four or five years old, and he became imitating and imitating in front of parents and teachers in the school. After completing his secondary education, Selim entered the Higher Institute of Acting "Beit Zvi" in Ramat Gan. After that, he traveled to Paris, France and joined the Jacques Lecock Institute, which is one of the world's finest institutes for teaching the arts of movement, mime and comedy. Selim is still working in acting and directing in theatre, film and television.

His artistic career
His artistic debut was in "House of Karma" in the year 1970 in Haifa, among several plays, which were admired by the audience, such as the play "The Confused Sultan" by Tawfiq al-Hakim, and then he moved to study acting at "Beit Zvi" (Higher Institute of Theatre) between The years 1972-1975. He then went to France to complete his studies of theater at the Jacques Lecoc Institute between 1977-1979, the great French theater, with a scholarship he obtained from the French government. He traveled there for a period of 8 years.

Salim Daou presented notable works in his field, as he worked in five theaters. His work varied as an actor, as he told stories with a troupe of narrators, and worked with one of the famous theaters for children in Paris “Le Pen d’orge”, then “De l’Atelier”, where he presented two plays.

Saleem has acted in dozens of plays produced by local theaters in his home country and international theaters. In Paris, he played the play “The King Oedipus” at the “Lulaire Theater” in 1980. He played the main role in the play “A Jew in the Duke’s Square” at the Municipal Theater in Haifa in 1992, as well as the play “On the Pavement” at the “Beit Lissin” theater in Tel Aviv in 1990.

Salim Daw held the position of director of Al Karma Theater between 1986 and 1998. He also taught acting in France between 1980-1984, as well as in Tel Aviv and Haifa University for 5 years.

Daw has an extensive career and extensive experience in feature films and short films. Founded the Keys Association for Theater and Film Arts in 1999.

• “Sag Selim”: a play that tells the story of a Palestinian who was displaced from his lands in the Nakba in 1948 and tells the smallest details of the events he faced, the difficulties and obstacles of displacement and an attempt to find work, food and education. This play tells the story of its hero in an interesting and poignant way, and it expresses every Palestinian who has been displaced or stayed in his country and the suffering under the occupation.

• “The Keys”: a documentary film that paints a picture of the dream of return that the Palestinians who were displaced in 1948 and who still keep the keys to their homes dream of in the hope of returning to their homes.

• His role as "Abu Nidal" in the series "Shaghal Arab", which was broadcast on the second Israeli channel. The writer of the series is the Palestinian journalist Sayed Qashua.

Awards
During his career, he won many awards, such as the Best Actor award in Israeli cinema for the year 1989. He also won the Best Actor award from the Swedish Malmö Arab Film Festival in its eleventh session for his role in the movie (Gaza Monamour) by the brothers Tarzan and Arab Nasser.
