Ali bin Mahmoud al-Rimawi (1277 AH / 1860-1337 AH / 1919 AD) was a Palestinian poet born in Jerusalem and rose to fame before and during the First World War. The origin of his family is from Aleppo, from which his ancestors moved to Palestine during the reign of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi. He studied at Al-Azhar, then was appointed as a teacher of jurisprudence and Arabic language at the Al-Maaref School in Jerusalem. He also worked as an editor for the Arabic section of the official Al-Quds Al-Sharif newspaper. He edited Al-Najah newspaper for two years. He died in Jerusalem in the year (1337 AH / 1919).
