Mahmoud Mawed (1942-1997 AD), is a Palestinian writer and storyteller, one of the most prominent writers of the Palestinian story. He was born in Saffuriyya in Nazareth in 1942 AD, and has resided in Damascus since the Palestinian catastrophe in 1948 AD, where he mixed with its society and writers, and presented a prolific product, most notably his collections of stories “Quatrains of Death and Madness” and “Mirrors” and “Stories from Palestine” and from his collections of poetry “A lover of Palestine” and “Barquq from Palestine”.

He received his education in Syria, then completed his undergraduate studies at Damascus University and continued his studies at Cairo University. As for his higher education, he completed it at the Sorbonne in Paris, where he graduated in 1978 with a PhD in modern literature. He worked as a university professor at the Faculty of Arts - Department of Arabic Language, a teacher at the Higher Institute for Dramatic Sciences and Director General of the Department of Education and Higher Education.


Mahmoud Mawed, one of the most prominent writers of the Palestinian story, died in Damascus in 1997, after a sudden heart attack. And the writer who passed away at the age of not more than 55 years.
