Muhammad Hamza Ghaneim is a Palestinian poet, translator and writer. He was born in Baqa al-Gharbia in 1956 and died in 2004.

 

His academic career

He completed his high school education in the village of Baqa al-Gharbiyeh, and joined Tel Aviv University to specialize in Arabic and Hebrew literature.

 

His professional career

He worked in the field of journalism for several newspapers and magazines, including Fasl Al Maqal newspaper in Nazareth, Al Ittihad newspaper in Haifa, Al Shaab magazine in Jerusalem, and Al Ayyam newspaper in Palestine.

 

He published his writings in many magazines that were issued in the eighties and nineties, including: Al-Jadeed magazine, Al-Mersad magazine, Al-Anbaa, Al-Bayader literary magazine, Al-Aswar magazine, Al-Karmel magazine.

 

Editorial positions vacant in several publishing organizations:

 

1) Editor in the seventies for Al-Fajr and Al-Sha`b magazines.

 

2) Editor in the literary magazine Al Sharq 1977-1984 and Al-Sahwa magazine in 1978.

 

3) Literary editor in Cultural News 1982-1984.

 

4) A member of the editorial board of the Masharef cultural magazine, which was founded by the writer Emile Habibi, Haifa.

 

5) Literary editor in Hebrew literary magazines such as “Aiton 77” (Newspaper 77) published in Tel Aviv, and the bilingual magazine “Mivgash” (Forum).

 

His achievements and works

Muhammad Hamza translated many articles, poems, stories, and novels from Hebrew into Arabic and vice versa.

 

Translate the novel "The Lover" by the Israeli writer A. B. Yehoshua, and "Yellow Time" by David Grossman. Translate the novel "The Story of Zahra" by Hanan Al-Sheikh into Hebrew. He also translated several collections of poetry by the poet Mahmoud Darwish into Hebrew, including:
