Born in Ash-Shukyukh (a Palestinian town in the Hebron Governorate located 6 Kilometers northeast of the city of Hebron) 1951; educated in Jordan; studied Chemistry at the University of Jordan, he then left to Britain where he received his PhD in Chemical Industry from the University of Leeds; worked in Kuwait for three years, he then returned to Jordan; appointed as secretary general of the Ministry of Industry 2000; then as the Industry Minister in the same year and 2004.
