Muhammad Rashad al-Sharif (1925-26 September 2016), one of the famous reciters of the Noble Qur’an in the Islamic world, and reciter of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron. A professor of Arabic language at Hebron University and schools in Jerusalem and Hebron, as well as a Quran reciter on Jordanian television, he moved to Jordan since 2002 and previously led the King Abdullah I Mosque in Abdali.

He is "Muhammad Rashad" bin Abdul Salam bin Abdul Rahman Al-Sharif, his lineage reaches Al-Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib bin Fatima Al-Zahra. He was born in the city of Hebron in Palestine in 1925

Sharif began to learn the chant at a young age. He recited the Noble Qur’an to Sheikh Hussain Ali Abu Sunaina and approved it with the two narrations of Hafs from Asim and Warsh, until he mastered the Qur’anic reading at the age of eighteen, influenced by the recitation of the reciter Muhammad Rifaat. He was heard by the Mufti of Hebron Sheikh Abdullah Tahboub in the year 1941, who worked on sending it to the Palestinian radio in the city of Jerusalem, to be heard by the people of tolerance, among whom was the late Palestinian poet Ibrahim Toukan, and they agreed to read it. In 1943, he listened to Muhammad Rashad al-Sharif, the sheikh of readers in the twentieth century, the reciter Muhammad Rifaat, who was blind. He said about him, “I listen to Muhammad Rifaat from Palestine,” and he replied to him with a message in 1944, considering him as the “second Muhammad Rifaat.”

He was appointed as a reciter of Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1966, and he used to recite Friday after Friday in it, because he was also reading in the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.

Recording of the Qur'an
The Islamic Conference was held in Jeddah in 1980, and discussed the matter of assigning Sheikh Muhammad Rashad Al-Sharif to record the entire Qur’an for distribution to the world. Copies of this Qur’an were made by many of Jordan’s guests, scholars and officials. Recently, the Holy Qur’an recited with his voice was issued, and the slow chanting recitations of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque were added.

Muhammad Rashad Al-Sharif has great knowledge in the art of calligraphy, as he masters the calligraphy of the patch, the third and the Persian. He authored the Arabic language book for the first grade, commissioned by the Ministry of Education in Jordan, and used the patch line in teaching children based on the correct methods in the education process for young children, starting with the letter, then the syllable, then the word, and then the sentence.

Sheikh Al-Sharif is educated and skilled in poetry, and he has a poetry collection that has not yet been published. Because of his focus on the various sciences of the Qur'an. The Sheikh has the famous poem “The Teacher” that critics preferred over the poems that were organized in this section, and which he says at the beginning:

O candle in the corners of the class, you shine, illuminating the path of His Excellency, while it burns
He began composing poetry in the year 1937, and has a large number of poems, close to a hundred.

Maarouf Muhammad Rashad Al-Sharif
Sheikh Maarouf al-Sharif, the imam of King Abdullah I Mosque in Amman and the muezzin of the unified call to prayer in Amman. He holds a master’s degree in Quranic sciences. Maarouf began learning the Holy Quran at the hands of his father when he was four years old. And his encouragement, after that he joined a house for the Holy Qur’an for learning and memorization, and with the encouragement of his father to memorize the Holy Qur’an, he participated in several competitions for memorizing the Qur’an, and he participated in some occasions to recite the Qur’an at the opening of the occasion.

Marouf Al-Sharif (like his father) was influenced by the reciter Muhammad Refaat and his school in reciting the Holy Qur’an, and this appears in his style of recitation. .

He obtained a license with a chain of transmission linked to the Messenger of God on the authority of his father, according to the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim from the Shatibiya road, and he obtained a master’s degree from Al al-Bayt University in Jordan, and his thesis was titled “Singing of the Qur’an and its Relationship to Melodies.”
