Salah Abd al-Fattah al-Khalidi ( December 1 , 1947 - January 28 , 2022 [3] ) ( Muharram 18 , 1367 AH - Jumada II 25 , 1443 AH ) was a Muslim scholar, academic, lecturer specializing in interpretation and the sciences of the Qur’an , a teacher, imam, and preacher of Jordanian origin , born in Jenin . He worked in university teaching for about 35 years, and he has - and after that - many seminars, lessons and books, and he devoted himself in his last years to that. Therefore, he began his quest for knowledge by obtaining a scholarship to Al-Azhar in 1965, and there the sheikh took the Al-Azhar secondary school, then entered the Faculty of Sharia and graduated from it in 1970, then He studied master's degree in 1977 at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic UniversityIn Riyadh, the thesis he presented was entitled: Sayyid Qutb and the Artistic Imagery in the Qur’an. [4] The discussion took place in 1980 and the committee consisted of Professor Dr. Ahmed Hassan Farhat as supervisor, Professor Muhammad Qutb as discussing and Sheikh Muhammad Al-Rawi as discussing.
The sheikh obtained a doctorate degree in interpretation and the sciences of the Qur’an in 1984 from the same university. The dissertation was entitled: In the Shadows of the Qur’an – Study and Evaluation . It was also supervised by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hassan Farhat , and discussed by Sheikh Manna’ al-Qattan and Prof. Dr. Adnan Zarzour .
Among the most prominent sheikhs who studied at their hands are Sheikh Musa Al-Sayed - one of the scholars of Palestine - Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ghazali and Sheikh Abdul Halim Mahmoud. Al-Khalidi was greatly influenced by Sheikh Sayyid Qutb , and his relationship with the Sheikh was a relationship of love and apprenticeship. As for a personal relationship, there was no personal connection between Sheikh Salah and Professor Sayyid Qutb, rather the Sheikh was apprenticed to his books.
Working life
He returned from his studies in Cairo in 1970 and was appointed to the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments in 1971. His appointment was in Tafilah. He began his work as a preacher and graduated in positions until he became the director of the endowments there. He requested a transfer in 1975, to be appointed as an assistant to the director of the Endowments of Salt. A year later, he was sent to study for a master’s degree. In Riyadh and returned from it in the year 1980. He worked as a teacher (affiliated with the Awqaf) at the College of Islamic Sciences in the Abdali region, from 1981 until his retirement from the Awqaf in 1991. His last job was as dean of the college. During the same period, he worked as a part-time teacher in a number of Sharia colleges. In a number of universities, including the Jordanian and Yarmouk, and in the period 1991-1998 he worked as a teacher at the College of Da’wah and Fundamentals of Religion, which was affiliated with the Endowments during this period, and after the college was joined to Al-Balqa University, he worked there as a professor until 2008, after which he moved to teach inInternational Islamic Sciences University and continued to do so until 2015.
