Information
Asaad Qaddoura , a Palestinian religious scholar during the Ottoman era , born in 1880 , was the Mufti of Safad and the Sharia judge in northern Palestine .
His life
Born in the city of Safed , Palestine , in 1880 , Asaad received his first studies in Damascus , then moved to Al-Azhar , where he continued his religious studies under Sheikh Muhammad Abduh . He returned to Safed after completing his studies and held the title of “Azhari scholar.” He established a national school in the Red Mosque in Safed, where he taught the Arabic language . During the Ottoman era, he held many positions in the judiciary and received a number of medals, including the Glorious Medal of Honor, first class. He was mufti of Safed in World War I. During the period of the British Mandate in Palestine, he participated in the national movement and was appointed by the Supreme Council as a Sharia judge for Nazareth, Acre, and Safed.

He headed the Arab Committee in Safed 1921.
He represented Safad in the Islamic Conference for the Protection of Jerusalem and the Holy Sites in 1948.
He was chosen to be a member of the Executive Committee of the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Arab-Palestinian Conferences.
Member of the Palestinian Scholars Conference.
One of the founders and signatories of the fatwa issued in 1935 by the conference held in Jerusalem prohibiting the sale of land to Jews.
His death
After the Nakba in 1948, he fled to Damascus and died there in 1959.
