Hatem Aqel (born June 20, 1978) is a Jordanian footballer of Palestinian origin , specifically from the city of Ramallah . He plays for the Jordanian club That Ras, and is one of the stars of the Jordanian national team. He plays as a center back and sometimes plays in midfield. He has a strong right foot for shooting from a distance, and wears the number 17 in the ranks of the Jordanian club Al-Faisaly. He achieved many achievements with Al-Faisaly and the national team, most notably the gold medal at the Arab Games in 1999 and reaching the quarter-finals of the 2004 Asian Nations Cup, in addition to winning a number of league and cup championships with Al-Faisaly and the Asian Federation Cup. He is the captain of the Jordanian national team and Al-Faisaly club after Hassouna Al-Sheikh retired from international football.
