Hatem Aqel (born June 20, 1978) is a
Jordanian soccer player of Palestinian origin, specifically from the city of
Ramallah. He plays for the Jordanian club That Ras, and he is one of the stars
of the Jordanian national team. He plays in the center of defense and sometimes
plays in the midfield. He has a strong right foot to shoot from afar, and
carries the number 17 in the ranks of the Jordanian club Al-Faisaly. He
achieved many achievements with Al-Faisaly and the national team, most notably
the gold medal. The Arab Games in 1999 and reaching the quarter-finals of the
Asian Nations 2004, in addition to winning with Al-Faisaly a number of league
championships, cups and the AFC Cup. He is the captain of the Jordanian
national team and Al-Faisaly club after Hassouna Al-Sheikh retired
internationally.
