The young Palestinian refugee Hamza al-Kurdi (24 years old) won the gold medal in the 2019 Austrian King Boxing Championship, after arriving in Austria as an immigrant from Yarmouk camp 4 years ago.
Al-Kurdi had left the Yarmouk camp in May 2013 with the rest of the camp’s students to the Alliance Institute and Saeed Al-Aas to take the high school certificate exam. He passed the first session and entered the University of Damascus in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. Then he immigrated to Austria and arrived there in 2015. He is the son of an official.
