Valerie Rose Tarazi (born October 9, 1999) is a Palestinian -American swimmer who has achieved many accomplishments in swimming on behalf of the State of Palestine. She has become an icon of Palestinian swimming, as she was able to win six medals in the Arab Games held in Algeria in July 2023, two gold, three silver, and one bronze. She holds the Palestinian record in the 50-100m backstroke , the record in the 50-100-200m breaststroke , and the record for the 50m butterfly .
Valerie was born in the United States to a Palestinian family and graduated from Auburn University . She started swimming at the age of three, but did not focus much on the sport until high school, where she played other sports such as tennis, hockey, and baseball.
Her achievements
Valerie Tarazi achieved three Palestinian records. The first is that she is the Palestinian athlete with the most gold medals in Arab, continental and international tournaments. The second is that she is the first Palestinian woman to win two gold medals in a single tournament.
