Hamza Abdo (January 1, 1991 - ) swimmer from Palestine.
about his life
He represented the State of Palestine at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the run-up to the Games, he had reported to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation about the difficulties he had encountered while training for the Olympics, with only 18 meters at his disposal instead of the Olympic record length 50 metres. Hamza's coach, noted the support provided to the Israeli Swimming Federation, and lamented the travel restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on the movement of Palestinian citizens, in addition to the lack of Palestinian funding, which hampered his training. The British newspaper The Guardian described him and Elise Labnemal as the underdog in games.
Haq Abdo the Palestinian record in the 100 meters freestyle and 100 meters butterfly. His best time in the 100-meter freestyle was 56 seconds. He said that his cousin, Raed Owaisat, who lives in Jerusalem, who represented Palestine at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, was an inspiration to him.
