Information
Riyad Hassan Al-Khudari, born in
Gaza City on July 27, 1943, is a well-known Palestinian academic. He currently
occupies the presidency of the Department of Education and Higher Education in
the Palestine Liberation Organization, being a member of its Executive
Committee as well as a member of the Palestinian National Council and the
Palestinian Central Council. He also occupies the position of Vice-Chairman of
the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds Open University, as well as he is a member of
the Board of Directors of the University of Gaza. He is considered the founder
of Al-Azhar University in Gaza and was its president during the period
1991-2005. He also led the founding group of the University of Gaza (formerly
Gaza University for Women) in 2006, and presided over this university during
the period from 2007-2010. Being a specialist in geology, Prof. Dr. Riyad
Hassan Al-Khodary has actively contributed to the multilateral peace talks in
the Middle East and has headed the Palestinian delegation to the Water Resources
Working Group since 1992.
